Eco-conscious Care: Toys and learning tools are natural, open-ended materials that allow children to endlessly imagine and create play. Environment is non-toxic. Cleaning supplies are homemade of natural, non-toxic substances that are safe for living things and the environment. Water is filtered. Food is organic, vegetarian and non-GMO. WIFI will be turned OFF during child care hours!
Please note: In my care, your child will get DIRTY! The environment is healthy but not sterile. Children are encouraged to get messy, explore and have fun without restrictions (other than obvious safety ones).
Process: If you are interested, please use the contact or email button to send me an email expressing which package you're interested in and a little bit about your child. Prior to care, we will set up a meeting/interview at the house so I can better grasp what your parenting style is as well as show you around and tell you a bit more about myself and my approach to child care. My goal is to mimic the comfort of home life to allow for optimal confidence and natural exploration. After we meet, I will email you a short registration form that you can complete and return prior to starting care.
Ages: 2.5 - 5 years
Currently, I have availability for older toddlers and preschool-aged children. The environment is set up for this age group and there is lots of messy, out-of-doors free play. When my daughter enters kindergarten (in 1-2 years), I will readdress the space and open my doors to infants, if such a need arises.
Number of Children: The ratio will remain 1:4, with the goal being a home-like, comfortable, educational space for young children to explore and socialize in a family-like setting. Eventually, as interest in the program develops, I'd like to rent out and open up a licensed nature-based preschool facility to cater to more families here in Flagstaff.
Daily Schedule:
The structure of activities each day will include music, culture, art, pretend/creative play and gardening when possible. Storytelling will be largely focused on every day to encourage literacy, build vocabulary and listening skills and to enhance creativity, with strategies being utilized for children of all ages.
Packages/Tuition:
4 or 5 day, half or full day packages available
4 half days (8:30-12:30 or 12:30-4:30) $400/month (averaged around $6.25 per hour)
4 full days (8:30-4:30) $736/month (averaged around $5.75 per hour)
5 half days (8:30-12:30 or 12:30-4:30) $500/month (averaged around $6.25 per hour)
4 full days + 1 half day (Friday) $836/month (averaged around $5.75 per hour for the full days and $6.25 for the half)
Tuition is paid monthly. Please keep in mind that I count each month as an even four weeks. Thus, you are charged only for the 4 weeks, as is reflected in my costs, above. Any additional days per month extending beyond four weeks are considered "free."
Costs:
For a full-time attendee (36 hours/week), this will equal out to $209/week. I will also offer free drop off and pick up time at the beginning and end of each day and the full day packages run longer than the traditional preschool/child care. Costs for partial days (if this is what works best for you) are slightly higher per hour.
There will be a $25 registration fee due with paperwork (to be emailed separately).
Costs cover healthy, homemade vegetarian lunch and snacks, smoothie pops and home brewed herbal teas, daily.
Weekend care can be available at your request at $10/hour, too.

Other Info:
Food - My daughter and I are vegan but are comfortable handling eggs and dairy. Meat, however, is something we'd like to avoid in the house if possible. To make it easy for all, I will provide organic, vegetarian lunches and healthy, sugar-free snacks! Please let me know about allergies.
Spirituality - Though I do not identify with a specific religion, I am certainly spiritual. I incorporate yoga and Kundalini mantras into various parts of my day. These are things I enjoy doing with my daughter and would also like to utilize in the child care!
Acceptance - Modeling acceptance for all people, regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual-orientation or handicap is a staple in my childcare approach. Shying away from or avoiding differences precludes understanding and acceptance, thus I invite all children to question what they see and I work to respectfully expose them to all types of differences.
I have 3 kid-friendly cats who live in the home, too! :)
